Meet Smokey!

Self Portrait with PumpSmokey

At the moment, .5u/hour of saline is pumping into my abdomen.

Tomorrow we go live. Woohoo!

I have already had a Tubing Incident. The World's Most Wonderful Electricians came over today to fix a lengthy list of small things. For what it would have cost for them to say hi in Flat Cosmopolitan City, we had:

  • two GFCIs installed
  • broken closet light fixed
  • two broken outlets replaced, one of which could have burned down the house
  • outdoor motion-sensor light installed, switch fixed
  • a couple of other things fixed

This involved me taking one of the electricians up to the attic.

I scooped up Bart to try and extricate him from the fascinating new playground of the attic. He struggled. Paws were entangled in pump tubing. Ouch.

By the by, I'm really enjoying the comments on my OLGA (obligatory lesbian gender angst) post, so do scroll down and keep them coming. Big smooches also to the lurkers who have delurked and congrats to "anon" aka My First Boyfriend, who's newly engaged to his boyfriend. Congrats sweetie - I'm so frickin' happy for you!

Congratulations!!

Our other friend OC friend George just started too!

As I've offered with him, if you have any questions on "things" or run into any trouble, just post them on the site. Me and the rest of the OC folks who frequent will do our best to answer and help.

It can be a lot of work starting up - testing & tuning all the settings and ratios, but stick with it - be patient.

I also love how you've laid out the "road map" for the adoption process over in the sidebar. Very neat way to share the process with us. Thank you!

Take care!

Cool! You have the same pump as O. Only hers is purple.

Like Scott said, any questions, just holler.

WRT your OLGA post - I guess I'd never thought about being able to choose a gender when you adopt. It does seem like more people adopt girls, though. I wonder why. Is it because baby girls are seen as more vulnerable? Cuter? Easier? Dunno. I just know that I was wishing with every fibre of my being to have girls, so I don't think it's so awful to get to pick what you want. I don't think it's that different than a pregnant woman wishing for a boy or girl. Does that make sense?

Congratulations on you new pump!

And I love your sweater, by the way. Nothing says "Comfortable" like a soft and cozy turtleneck.

Congratulations!

The pump will definitely be more work-- at least in the beginning -- but you're trading up to a far more powerful, robust tool that is so worth that extra work.

I still remember how free Joseph felt when he first started the pump.

It was (and still is) damn wonderful.

So you know what's funny? I had started a blog called Bacon Bits to use as a template mangler/learning tool. And when I commented on your blog last night, I mistakenly came on board as "bacon bits."

That was me. Sheepishly addicted to the salty goodness.

I'm sure you will develop a wonderful love/hate relationship with him(her)!

Thanks for sharing all your adoption info as well...that is a path my husband and I will be heading down soon so I may need to pick your brain :)
